Founded in Italy in 1878, Venchi Fine Italian Chocolate will soon open its first San Diego branch.
In the late 19th Century, Silviano Venchi invested his life savings on two bronze cauldrons to experiment with new uses for chocolate. Today, more than 175 Venchi ChocoGelaterias span the globe, though just half a dozen can be found in the US, mostly in the New York Metro area.
As part of a major global expansion, Venchi Fine Italian Chocolate is opening a new location in San Diego's Westfield UTC mall. The chocolatier is known for its 90 gelato flavors and 350 chocolate recipes. In addition to a huge variety of chocolate flavors and styles, the new store will also sell signature gelato flavors, gelato shakes, Italian-style coffee and crepes filled with spreads dispensed from a chocolate fountain.
