The team behind San Diego's Mastiff Sausage Company has opened their first standalone restaurant is the space that last housed Craft Kitchen in La Mesa.
Escondido natives and longtime friends Jacob Bartlett and Chef Eric Gallerstein founded Mastiff Sausage Company in 2013 as a San Diego food truck and caterer specializing in handmade craft sausages. In 2015, the duo opened Mastiff Kitchen inside Liberty Public Market in Point Loma, which has since closed, and the following year opened a second location inside North Park Beer. They also operate The Pig’s Gig BBQ and Fluster Cluck Hot Chicken, both sited inside Liberty Public Market.
Mastiff Kitchen is a comfort-food forward and family-friendly brew pub, featuring a menu focused on house-made fare. Menu items include crispy pan pizza, smash burgers, sausage sandwiches, smothered fries, and dinner plate specials like beer braised short ribs, mussels, and house made sausage. Mastiff Kitchen will also offer San Diego's best breweries including Societe, Pure Project, Burgeon, and North Park Beer Company, as well as regional favorites like Russian River, Beachwood, and Fremont. Wine on tap will also be offered.
"We're excited to uphold the La Mesa Craft Kitchen’s legacy by serving good food and great beer at fair prices," said Mastiff Sausage co-founder Chef Eric Gallerstein. "This is an awesome community and we're honored to continue the neighborhood atmosphere Craft Kitchen is known for."
Mastiff Kitchen is now open at 4253 Palm Avenue in San Diego's La Mesa. For more information, visit www.mastiffkitchen.com.
