San Diego's six-year-old Protector Brewery is opening a tasting room on the base floor of the Intercontinental Hotel along downtown's bay front.
Founded in San Diego's craft beer soaked Miramar by husband-and-wife Sean and Cory Haggerty in 2017, Protector Brewery produces a lineup of organic beers like the Warfighter Double Dry Hopped Hazy IPA and Lite Lager. The couple recently signed a lease for the 1,900 square-foot space at BRIC at InterContinental San Diego, which was once slated to become a taproom from Vista-based Latitude 33 Brewing Company before a company shakeup in 2019.

Protector Brewery's incoming tasting room should satisfy a much needed craft beer fix along downtown San Diego's tourist-filled waterfront. Sited adjacent to Lane Field Park, the taproom will be outfitted with a covered outdoor patio with fire features, communal tables, a craft beer cooler, a merchandise section, and a bar selling Protector's signature and special release organic brews. The space will also offer an onsite food component featuring shareable dishes.
