The team behind San Diego sandwich specialists Rubicon Deli has opened a new concept dubbed Burger Deck.
Rubicon Deli began in Lake Tahoe, CA, owned and operated by co-owner Evan Corsiglia's mother, Cheri. The original deli eventually moved to Reno, NV, where Evan received an invaluable education that he would eventually build on for his own sandwich empire, as he learned to bake many styles of rolls, including garlic cheese, jalapeño jack, pesto, blue cheese and more, which Rubicon's San Diego locations continue to bake fresh every morning. Rubicon Deli currently has locations in Middletown and La Jolla's UTC area, as well as the original in Reno. The upstairs deck of Rubicon's Middletown location off India Street has been repurposed to become Burger Deck. Expect a walk up counter serving a handful of signature burgers, including The Deck made with a 1/3 lb beef patty, cheddar cheese, vine ripened tomato, red onion, butter lettuce, and dijonnaise, all on a house baked bun; The Crabby Deck made with a 4 ounce house-made crab cake, tomato, red onion, butter lettuce, fresh herbs, lemon-caper tartar sauce and garlic Tabasco mayo; and the Mushroom Deck with marinated portobello mushroom, Swiss cheese, tomato, tempura onion, balsamic mayo and butter lettuce. The eatery also serves a variety of fries, onion rings and beer.
Burger Deck is now open at 3715 India Street, Suite B, in San Diego's Middletown area off the I-5. For more information, follow Burger Deck on Instagram.
