Once a longtime area farmers market vendor and caterer, Coxinha Store Brazilian bakery has opened its second San Diego location.
Raquel Moraes has been sharing her family's Brazilian baked goods recipes with San Diego for nearly a decade, first as the owner of Samba Brazilian Cuisine eatery in downtown San Diego and also as a vendor at area farmers markets and events. In 2021, Moraes opened her first Coxinha Store in San Diego's Pacific Beach, which has become a destination for traditional Brazilian baked goods.
Coxinha Store has opened its second San Diego storefront within the new Mercato Food Hall in Sorrento Valley. Like the Pacific Beach store, the bakery will specialize in Brazilian stuffed potato croquettes, known as Coxinha, which will have fillings like chicken, cheese, vegan, ham & cheese, beef and hot dog. The eatery will also sell empanadas, meat pies, Brazilian cheese bread, acai bowls and Brigadeiros, which are round desserts in a variety of flavors.
Coxinha Store will host its grand open party featuring live Brazilian music on October 1 at 9450 Scranton Road in San Diego's Sorrento Valley. For more information, visit coxinhastore.com.
