Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee was founded in Orange County's Costa Mesa in 2012 and immediately had hungry patrons lining up for a taste of the small-batch rotating donut menu with flavors like basil eggs benedict, Nutella chocolate chip, birthday cake and passion fruit matcha. A second location opened in Los Angeles' Santa Monica neighborhood in 2015. In late 2018, the company opened its first San Diego location within in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center
The second San Diego location of Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee is anticipated to open by year's end on the ground floor of the new 2100 Kettner mixed-use building in Little Italy. At Sidecar, doughnuts are made everyday from scratch and fried in small batches throughout the day. The eatery also features signature coffee concoctions. Expect donut flavors like Butter & Salt, Saigon Cinnamon, Lemon Pound Cake, Old Fashion, Huckleberry, as well as exclusive concoctions only available at the Little Italy location. Sidecar also sells a large variety of coffee and espresso drinks, including lattes, cold brews, and teas.
