Replacing the jester-themed neighborhood tavern The Jolly Joker in San Diego's Kearny Mesa is a new branch of Players Sports Grill.
Michael Pasulka has been anxious to bring a branch of Players Sports Grill back to the central San Diego area ever since closing his Clairemont Mesa location back in 2014 after 14 years in business. He recently signed a lease to take over the 5,242 square-foot unit currently occupied by The Jolly Joker Tavern and Elbow Room before that. Pasulka also operates a location of Players Sports Grill in Poway and co-owns a branch in San Marcos.

Aiming to open by year's end, Players Sports Grill will have a sports bar vibe with dozens of TVs and a tavern food menu featuring appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, 18 flavors of wings, salads, pasta, and pizza, as well as entrees like pot roast and orange chicken. From the bar, there will be up to 40 draft beverage options.
