With a nod to nostalgia and a focus on fun, the 2024 San Diego County Fair will give our yesteryears another moment in the San Diego sun when it returns from June 12 through July 7, 2024.
"Let's Go Retro" was officially revealed as next year's San Diego County Fair theme during the 22nd District Agricultural Association's Board of Directors meeting. The new logo was also presented to the Board. The 2024 Fair will be open June 12 - July 7 with closures on every Monday and Tuesday.
"After a safe, fun, educational, and successful 2023 San Diego County Fair, we are thrilled to start looking ahead to a year that we will spend looking back - as well as imagining what will be considered 'retro' in the future," said Carlene Moore, CEO of the District, which produces the annual Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. "This theme is especially appropriate for our Fair. Through all the decades that we will explore in 2024, the San Diego County Fair served as a gathering place for our diverse communities."
The "Let's Go Retro" theme will give fairgoers the chance to bop their way around the happy days of the 50s; twist, shout, and shake it into the bewitching 60s; move and groove through the disco nights of the 70s; moonwalk it back to the gnarly age of big hair, shoulder pads, and parachute pants of the 80s; and enjoy the era of flannel and floppy drives of the 90s. From hair dos to hangouts, tunes to technology, visitors will relive pop culture's best in media, fashion, art, music, and more.
For the 2024 San Diego County Fair, the lineup of live bands and DJs will have music lovers putting on their dancing shoes — platforms, pumps, go-go boots or just a fresh pair of kicks. There will also be an arcade installation, and new foods like Cheese Whiz and Funyun casserole, milkshakes, and diner-style burgers. Fairgoers will find the joys of both old and new in this family-friendly variety show of Fair classics, including rides, entertainment, exhibits, agriculture, animals, art, food, music, and all the traditions they have come to expect, with an ocean view.

The Fair met key metrics, including increases in paid attendance, rides, and use of off-site lots to reduce traffic for fairgoers. The District's board was briefed on the 2023 Fair's performance at the meeting Tuesday.
In the months leading up to next year's fair, more information about the summer's biggest bash, including grandstand show lineup, food options, and advance ticket and ride pass purchases, will be made available on SDFair.com.
