Tidewater Tavern Set To Close In San Diego's Solana Beach After Nearly Three Decades In Business

September 1, 2023

After nearly three decades in business, Tidewater Tavern will soon close in San Diego's Solana Beach to become a new pizza bar and restaurant.

In 1994, Sam Lunde opened Tidewater Tavern on Coast Highway in San Diego's north county beach town of Solana Beach. This past weekend, Lunde hosted his 60th birthday at the nautical themed neighborhood haunt and announced he would be closing the business after Labor Day weekend.

After its closure next week, the Tidewater Tavern space will be taken over by Rich Daly, who previously operated 4th Street Pizza Company in San Jose, CA for 16 years. Daly intends to renovate the space and opened a yet-to-be named bar and pizza restaurant. San Diego’s restaurant broker Location Matters represented both the seller and buyer in this transaction, marking the 15th client they've helped retire from the restaurant industry.

Tidewater Tavern is located at 221 North Highway 101 within Boardwalk Solana Beach shopping center. For more information, visit tidewatertaverncali.com.
