A longtime destination for Cuban cuisine in Temecula, Havana Kitchen has opened a new all-day restaurant in San Diego's La Jolla community.
In 2006, second generation Cuban-American James Torres started Havana Kitchen as a small commercial caterer sited in an industrial park in Murrieta, CA. Within a couple of months, he converted the front reception area into a six table dining room. In 2012, a loyal customer presented Torres with the opportunity to bring Havana Kitchen to a commercial space in Old Town Temecula, and the rest is history. The family-run Havana Kitchen has now been a popular restaurant for casual Cuban fare for over a decade.
Earlier this year, Torres took over the space that last housed a Karina’s Mexican location in La Jolla Village for the opening of his second Havana Kitchen. Like the original, the restaurant serves an all-day menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect dishes like fresh baked pastries, empanadas, plantains, salads, an assortment of Cuban pressed sandwiches, and entrees like ropa vieja with shredded beef stewed in a Cuban sofrito of tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and wine. There will also be a selection of in-house roasted coffee blends, Cuban espresso and Cortadito coffees, as well as tea, hot chocolate, blended drinks and beer on tap.
Havana Kitchen is now open at 1055 Torrey Pines Road, Suite 101, in La Jolla. For more information, visit havanakitchen.com and check out the menu below.
