Knotty Barrel bar & restaurant will soon unveil a weekend, outdoor barbecue menu in San Diego's East Village.
Knotty Barrel's barbecue menu will include true central Texas smoked brisket and turkey, first smoked with all white oak in an offset smoker for 14 hours before being sliced and served on a white bread sandwich with one side or an 8 ounce plate with two sides. Besides the white oak wood-smoked meats, the offerings will include sides like classic Southern mac salad, potato salad, coleslaw, shoestring French fries, or black-eyed peas with collard greens.
"I grew up in the kitchen with my mother and grandmother learning how to cook," said Knotty Barrel owner and pit master Kenny Lovi. "Both of them are from Puerto Rico, everything was about simple ingredients. My mom always kept her cooking very simple, simple ingredients built unbelievable flavor. It’s the same with our Knotty Barrel sauces, we will offer a Central Texas BBQ sauce, Mango Habanero BBQ sauce, and a house favorite, the regional Lexington Kentucky sauce all made with simple ingredients from scratch every weekend."
Founded by Ken Lovi in San Diego's East Village in 2011, Knotty Barrel added an inhouse brewery, tasting room, and beer garden in 2016. In 2018, a new, 4,000 square-foot location was opened in San Diego's North County city of Rancho Penasquitos.
Knotty Barrel’s Backyard Bar-B-Que will be available every Friday starting at 4pm and Saturday & Sunday starting at noon at 844 Market Street in San Diego's East Village. For more information, visit ev.knottybarrel.com.
