San Diego's RMD Group of bars & restaurant is venturing northward with an incoming location of its Rustic Root American eatery set to open in North County's beachside community of Solana Beach.
San Diego's RMD Group was founded in 2008 by industry-veterans Mike Georgopoulos, Dave Renzella and Dan Renzella. The hospitality company has been expanding its concepts in downtown San Diego over its 15-year tenure and is behind such concepts as Rustic Root, Huntress steakhouse, Lumi by Akira Back, and Johnny WAHOO Golf Bar. RMD has also sold off and shuttered several additional concepts over the years, including transferring FLUXX Nightclub, F6ix, and Sidebar, rebranding Don Chido, and closing Salvucci's.
RMD Group will open a second area location of Rustic Root at the Sandbox Solana Beach Apartments off Highway 101, marking the company's first bar & restaurant sited in North County. Originally founded in downtown San Diego in spring 2015, Rustic Root offers a menu of "New American" comfort food cuisine with a California cuisine, complimented by a full bar with craft cocktails, local beer and a curated wine list. Unlike the original branch, the Solana Beach location will not have a rooftop area.
