McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams was founded by husband and wife Gordon and Ernesteen McConnell in Santa Barbara, CA, in 1949. The company was started with the mission of avoiding artificial and industrialized ingredients, choosing to instead source from Central Coast farms and purveyors, including using locally sourced grass-grazed milk, fruit, nuts and produce. McConnell’s currently operates seven locations around California.
The first San Diego branch of McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams opened today in the space that last housed a Cold Stone Creamery within The Forum Carlsbad retail plaza. Like other branches, expect a menu of small batch ice cream in flavors like Raspberry Cheesecake & Chocolate Crust, Brazilian Coffee, S'Mores, Eureka Lemon & Marionberries, Honey & Cornbread Cookie, and many more. To celebrate the grand opening, the scoop shop will give away free ice cream from 4-8pm.
