The Vibe Brings Boozy Brunch To San Diego's Normal Heights

October 2, 2023

Now open in the ground floor unit that last housed Ska Bar in San Diego's Normal Heights is The Vibe, a boozy brunch-focused bar & restaurant.

This past spring, San Diego's 4-year-old SKA Bar & Restaurant shuttered on the base floor of a mixed-use building in Normal Heights that also houses 11 luxury apartments. The space has a 4,500 square-foot ground floor dining area with rollup garage door windows and a 40-foot central bar, as well as a 2,600 square-foot rooftop dining space and bar with expansive views over Normal Heights and beyond. This past summer, the former Ska Bar ground floor space was taken over by Remi Kaval, who owns two locations of Coffee 'N' Talk in downtown San Diego and Meraki Cafe in University Heights.

After remodeling the former Ska Bar unit, Kaval has now opened The Vibe. Expect a brunch-style menu featuring pancakes, French toast, chilaquiles, parfaits, benedicts, acai bowls, and much more. Highlights from the food menu include the Smokin' Sal with a toasted English muffin topped with Atlantic smoked salmon, poached eggs, avocado, chives, Hollandaise sauce and paprika with a side of herb potatoes; Buttermilk Noodles with pancake noodles topped with whipped orange butter, powdered sugar and maple syrup; and the Maine Lobster Roll with brown butter poached Maine lobster, chipotle aioli, and chives served warm on a Parker House roll with a side of charred lemon and Parmesan fries. From the bar, expect a variety of espresso martinis, including a pumpkin spice version, as well as crack cocktails, local beer, and mimosas.

The Vibe is now open at 3250 Adams Avenue in San Diego's Normal Heights. For more information, visit thevibeco.com and check out the menu below.
