In fall 2020, the building that previously housed Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers on 5th Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp was leased by Ty Hauter, the founder of local restaurant group Good Time Design, which owns such area hotspots as Bub's At The Ballpark, The Blind Burro, Moonshine Flats. For the prime downtown space, Hauter partnered with Square One Concepts founder S. Barrett Rinzler for the second area outpost of Cerveza Jack's, a modern Southern comfort food restaurant and Mexican cantina.
Cerveza Jack's first launched in San Diego's Pacific Beach in early 2015 and replicated in Nashville, TN, in 2016. The Pacific Beach location eventually rebranded to become a second brand of Good Time Design's Moonshine country music bar concept. The Nashville location remains in business.
The last day of business for Cerveza Jack's downtown San Diego location is Sunday, November 19. There is no word on what will come of the prime Gaslamp Quarter space.
