San Diego County's oldest surviving brewery, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has opened a massive new beer garden in San Marcos.
Karl Strauss was a former vice president of production at Pabst Brewing Company before launching his namesake brewery in 1989. Since helping start the city’s craft beer scene, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has opened nearly a dozen locations in Southern California, including in Carlsbad, Downtown San Diego, Sorrento Mesa, 4S Ranch, Temecula, Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Anaheim and its main brewery on the outskirts of Pacific Beach. The company also operated a brewpub in La Jolla from 1996 until it closed in early 2021.
Karl Strauss Brewing Company has unveiled the first phase of its new, 85,000-square-foot beer garden called Karl Strauss Outpost San Marcos. The two-acre beer destination features a sprawling outdoor space with lawn games, fire pits, picnic and barrel tables and Adirondack chairs dotted throughout. Karl Strauss beers will be available from a converted shipping container bar with Mexican food items served from an onsite food truck.
Karl Strauss Outpost is now open at 1293 Armorlite Drive in San Diego's North County region of San Marco. For more information, visit karlstrauss.com and check out the food menu below.
