The third area location of Corner Pizza will open in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad.
Local entrepreneur Mario Guerra has been quietly launching eateries in the Leucadia area of Encinitas for the past few years. In late 2016, he opened Moto Deli right off the 101, offering a menu of chef-driven, artisan sandwiches. He eventually converted the original Moto Deli space to become the Spanish/Mediterranean-inspired Valentina restaurant and relocated his sandwich shop down the street. In fall 2020, Guerra, along with partners Jason Janececk and Jimi Maldonado, took over the quaint space that last previously Umi Sushi on Highway 101 and launched Corner Pizza, a Brooklyn-style pizzeria, raw bar, wine house and beer garden. The team opened a second Corner Pizza within the Mercantile 2 complex in Oceanside earlier this year.
Corner Pizza has recently taken over the space previously occupied by Bantam's Roost Public House near Bressi Ranch Village Center in Carlsbad for a third location. The unit offers a 1,450-square-foot interior with a 700-square-foot patio. Like other location, the new Corner Pizza will offer a menu centered around Brooklyn-style pizza, as well as salads, shareable plates, fresh oysters, desserts, and a full wine bar.
Corner Pizza is anticipated to open next year at 2628 Gateway Road, Suite 120, in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad. For more information, visit corner-pizza.com.
