Minnesota-based Nautical Bowls health-focused eatery has shuttered its San Diego location after less than five months in business.
This past June, franchisee Brian Gibbs opened the first of what was planned to be several San Diego Nautical Bowls locations in the space that previously housed Afters Ice Cream on Garnet Avenue in the heart of Pacific Beach. The health-focused acai bowl chain was founded in Minnesota in 2018 and has nearly 50 locations around the country. According to the company's website, Nautical Bowls branches are also in the works for La Jolla Village Dr. and Genesee Avenue in La Jolla and Friars Road in Mission Valley.
"To the Pacific Beach community: We are deeply grateful for the warm embrace you extended to us since our inception," reads a note on Nautical Bowls door. "Your support, patronage and feedback have been invaluable."
There is no information on the reason for Nautical Bowls sudden closure or if the two additional San Diego stores are still in the works.
Nautical Bowls sat at 855 Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, visit nauticalbowls.com.
