Now open in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter is XMAS Bar, an over-the-top 11,000 square-foot, holiday-themed bar & restaurant.
Since being founded in 2021, Bobby Rutter's and Michael Schwartz's Forward Hospitality Group (often abbreviated FWD Hospitality) now operates over 22 venues in Cleveland, Chicago, Columbus, OH, and St. Petersburg, FL. Following the recent closure of Tin Roof live music venue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the hospitality collective took over the space to open a location of its 70s-themed disco bar concept Good Night John Boy. In order to keep former Tin Roof staff employed through the holidays, the company chose to transform the building into the festive, Christmas-themed XMAS Bar.
XMAS Bar is now open in downtown San Diego, offering a holiday-themed bar and restaurant experience that lasts through Christmas day and possibly into the early new year. Expect thousands of Christmas lights and decorations, holiday-inspired spins on classic cocktails, an array of seasonal shots and a concise food menu featuring a burger, chicken sandwich and tenders, and some holiday takes on items such as flatbreads, empanadas and a cinnamon roll.
On January 7, 2024, XMAS Bar will permanently close in order for the space to receive a total renovation to transform into the fifth location of Good Night John Boy. Good Night John Boy will fully embrace a 70s theme in every aspect, with design elements paying homage to the era's iconic figures and embracing the funky ambiance of a 1970's basement. Good Night John Boy is anticipated to open in May 2024.
XMAS Bar is now open on Wednesday through Friday from 4pm and Saturday & Sunday starting at noon at 401 G Street in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information, visit xmasbar.com/sandiego and check out the menu below.
