Pacific Beach's decades-old Society bar, restaurant and pool hall is opening a new location in San Diego's North County.
In 1989, Israeli native Oved Haskal took over a former auto parts store on Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood and opened Society, a pool hall, gaming venue, sports bar and grill. Last year, Haskal purchased 2,628 square-foot building that last housed Barrel Republic on Grand Avenue in Escondido to open a second location of his Society concept.
Dubbed Society North, the incoming business will start out as a full restaurant with shareable plates, burgers, pizzas and more, as well as a bar serving beer, wine and other hard beverages. The business will eventually take over the neighboring space that was the former home of Windsor Corporation and use that as the gaming area with a couple pool tables, arcade games and ping pong.
Society North is expected to open this spring at 136 West Grand Avenue in San Diego's North County city of Escondido. For more information, visit societypb.com.
