Popular American grocery chain, Trader Joe's, is opening a new San Diego locations in a former Best Buy building in Santee.
Founded in 1967 by Joe Coulombe in Pasadena, CA, Trader Joe's is a value-oriented, Tiki-themed grocery chain that now has more than 500 locations, including 10 branches in San Diego County. In 1979, German-native Theo Albrecht, who is also the founder of Aldi grocery, bought the company as a personal investment for his family.
Last December, a Trader Joe's spokesperson confirmed a branch of the store would be coming to an undisclosed address in San Diego's East County of Santee in 2024, as well as a branch within Poway City Centre. It has now been revealed that the Santee location will be sited in the building previously occupied by Best Buy within Mission Gorge Square Shopping Center in Santee.
The newest San Diego branch of Trader Joe's is expected to open in late 2024 at 9680 Mission Gorge Road in San Diego's East County city of Santee. For more information, visit traderjoes.com.
