Los Angeles-based Baja Sharkeez Restaurant Group is gearing up for a summer opening of Pacific Beach Hideaway, a California beach bungalow-inspired bar & restaurant installing in the former Fat Fish Cantina Grill space.
For nearly three decades, Los Angeles' Baja Sharkeez Restaurant Group has opened numerous bars and restaurant in Southern California, including Palmilla in Hermosa Beach, five branches of Baja Sharkeez, Sandbar Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar in Santa Barbara, Panama Joe’s in Long Beach, Killarney’s Irish Pub in Huntington Beach, Esperanza Cocina de la Playa in Manhattan Beach, and Tower12 at Hermosa Pier. In 2022, the hospitality company took over the nearly oceanfront space last occupied by Fat Fish Cantina Grill in Pacific Beach.
Expected to open in early summer, Pacific Beach Hideaway will be a 5,500 square-foot, California lifestyle-inspired restaurant with both an interior and outside, open-air bar, as well as several classic arcade games. Expect a menu created by corporate chef Raymond Alvarez featuring California-inspired spins on American classics, including shareable bar bites, wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees.
Highlights from the food menu include Agua Chile Halibut Sashimi with avocado, Fresno chile, radish and cucumber; Grilled Ahi Niçoise Salad with line caught seared tuna, romaine lettuce, tomato, green bean, fingerling potato, cucumber, green olive, red onion, radish, hard boiled egg and house dressing; the Magic Mushroom Pizza with forest mushrooms, truffle gremolata, creme fraiche and arugula; the Tower Burger with hand crafted gourmet beef patties, American cheese, honey dijonaise, diced red onion, and pickles on an artisanal sesame seed bun; and the 12-Hour Braised Short Rib with brown butter mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The restaurant will also serve a weekend brunch.
In addition to the food program, the former Fat Fish space will feature a full service bar specializing in handcrafted cocktails, shareable "Social Bowls", spirits, wine and 30 local brews on tap. Located just steps away from the Crystal Pier, at the intersection of Garnet and Mission Boulevard, the new bar and restaurant will feature a beach bungalow feel with a wraparound, outdoor patio and interconnected rooms with a casual, homey vibe. The bar & restaurant will most closely resemble Baja Sharkeez Tower12 concept in look, food and feel.
Leading up to its summer opening, PB Hideaway is hiring for all positions. Applicants are invited to submit their resumes via email and/or attend one of the open interviews, currently scheduled for April 18-19.
