From the owners of Lupes Mexican Eatery and Holy Paleta, El Viejón is bringing its Mexican/Asian-fusion seafood to San Diego's South County.
Husband-and-wife partners Luis & Angelica Gonzalez, who also own several Lupe's Mexican Eatery locations and two Holy Paleta outposts, opened the first El Viejon Seafood restaurant in October 2021 in the space that previously housed the short-lived Chung Chun Rice Dog in Kearny Mesa. The restaurant has become a popular destination for its menu of Mexican seafood dishes with an Asian twist, as well as "exotic" seafood towers and seafood tacos, all created by Chef Raul Olmos.
The company's second location of El Viejón restaurant will open this spring in the space that currently houses El Tianguis in the Millenia Town Center plaza in the Otay Mesa area of Chula Vista. In addition to Baja-style mariscos dishes with Asian influence, the eatery will also sell a variety of beer, Micheladas, margaritas, bottled Mexican sodas, and craft agua frescas.
El Viejon is expected to open mid-May at 1620 Millenia Avenue, Suite 101, in San Diego's South Bay city of Chula Vista. For more information, visit elviejonseafood.com.
