A longtime San Diego bar & restaurant that has since closed was briefly featured on the latest episode of NBC's hit television program "Saturday Night Live."
The episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live that aired on Saturday, April 13, which was hosted by Ryan Gosling, included a shot of Davina's Cabo Grill, a longtime bar & restaurant once sited in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. The SNL skit, which featured Gosling, Keenan Thompson and second year cast member Marcello Hernandez, did not mention San Diego or Oceanside.
Once sited in the Leucadia area of Encinitas, Davina's Cabo Grill & Cantina moved in late 2008 to the bi-level building just blocks from Oceanside’s coast. In 2014, the restaurant's liquor license was temporarily suspended after license was suspended because an employee sold drugs to undercover agents.
Davina's Cabo Grill eventually closed in late 2018 and the 12,500 square-foot building is currently in the process of becoming a new location of Finney's Crafthouse, an Los Angles-based American tavern concept with eight branches dotted around Southern California. Finney's Crafthouse is anticipated to open by this summer at 212 Tremont Street in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside.
