Blue Ocean Sushi Unveils Newest Location In San Diego's Westfield UTC Mall

The third area branch of Asian-American fusion restaurant Blue Ocean Sushi has opened within San Diego's Westfield UTC mall in La Jolla.

Over the years, husband and wife restaurateurs James & Jenny Pyo have founded such area eateries as Love Boat Sushi (San Marcos and Oceanside), Harumama restaurants (Little Italy, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Point Loma, La Jolla) Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar (Carlsbad, La Jolla), Blue Smoke Sushi (Fashion Valley Mall,) two Pokewan locations, and Harumama-offshoot Teriyaki & Bao in Carlsbad. In 2019, they opened their most ambitious project yet, a combination concept Harumama Noodles & Buns and Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi in the 5,000 square foot space perched above La Jolla Shores that previously housed The Hake.

Over a year in the making, the Pyos have now opened their newest Blue Ocean Sushi & Grill restaurant in the 4,434 square foot restaurant space that last housed Smokeyard BBQ & Chop Shop across from Macy's in Westfield UTC mall. The space has been transformed into a contemporary sushi eatery with a specialized menu of Japanese-American cuisine, including appetizers, sushi, fried rice, bao buns, soups, salads, and a wide array of entrees. There is also be a full bar with cocktails, beer, wine and sake.
