North County San Diego's Craft Coast Beer & Tacos To Open New Location In Encinitas

May 16, 2024

The third area location from North County-based brewery and restaurant Craft Coast Beer & Tacos is opening in San Diego's Encinitas community.

Craft Coast Beer & Tacos made its debut in August 2020 at 275 Mission Avenue at the foot of the Pierside South Apartment building blocks from the Oceanside Pier in San Diego's North County. Founded by longtime friends Lars Erickson, Brian Gillen and head brewer Blake Masoner, Craft Coast quickly made name for itself for its house brewed beers and authentic Mexican tacos.

Last December, Craft Coast took over the 6,700-square-foot brewery and tasting room housed by Rip Current Brewing for a decade. The San Marcos brewery recently opened as Craft Coast's new headquarters, and the company will use it to expand their brewing operation, including utilizing the onsite canning line. A recently-installed trailer kitchen will be used for the team's growing catering and as the property's taco cart to serve food to patrons.

Craft Coast Beer & Tacos has now taken over the space that once housed a Filiberto's Mexican Food location right next to Modern Times Beer in downtown Encinitas for their third area branch. In addition to remodeling the interior, the drive-thru window will be removed and a 1,500 square-foot outdoor patio space will be added. From the kitchen, expect a menu of Baja-style tacos made using hand-pressed tortillas, smothered nachos, mulitas, bowls, and sides. The eatery will also offer Craft Coast's lineup of craft brews, including Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, and the fan-favorite Agua Baja, a Mexican Lager that may possess healing properties.

Craft Coast Beer & Tacos is expected to open by year's end at 476 South Coast Highway 101 in San Diego's North County city of Encinitas. For more information, visit craftcoast.co.
