Chick-Fil-A Ready To Open New Location In San Diego's North County City Of Carlsbad

June 14, 2024

The 19th area location of Chick-Fil-A will soon unveil in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad.

A new Chick-fil-A restaurant will begin serving the Carlsbad community on Thursday, June 20. Chick-Fil-A, Inc. has selected Tyler Reese as the independent franchised local owner-operator of the new branch. Reese is a graduate of a local Carlsbad high school and has been an employee of Chick-fil-A in the San Diego region since 2009. He worked every position at the restaurant, Chick-fil-A San Marcos, and was eventually named Director of Operations. In 2015, his role expanded to include Chick-fil-A Escondido, overseeing staffing, operations and finance for both restaurants.

"Carlsbad is the center of our lives," said Reese. "We are so excited to open a restaurant that can serve as a home away from home for Team Members, Guests and community members. Coming back to open a restaurant in Carlsbad, not far from where I started my first job, is so special and I cannot wait to serve the area with our delicious food and signature hospitality."
Located at 5848 Avenida Encinas, Chick-fil-A Carlsbad West will be open for dine-in, carry-out, catering pickup and delivery from 6:30am to 10pm, Monday through Saturday. The Carlsbad West restaurant joins 19 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider San Diego market. The new location will employ approximately 100 full and part time staff members.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to  Feeding  America  to support local hunger relief efforts of Feeding San Diego, a  Feeding America  partner food bank. In addition, Chick-fil-A Carlsbad West is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Carlsbad area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.

Founded by S. Truett Cathy in Hapeville, GA, in 1961, Chick-Fil-A now has nearly 3,000 locations around the United States and Canada. Chick-Fil-A was the first national restaurant chain to make a fried chicken sandwich its primary menu item. With an ethos based on its late founder's Southern Baptist beliefs, the company's conservative opposition to same-sex marriage has been the subject of public controversy, although the company has allegedly begun to loosen its stance on this issue in recent years.

Another area Chick-Fil-A branch is in the works to open at 3351 Nobel Drive in La Jolla. It is believed that restaurant will open at some point in late July.

Chick-Fil-A will open on Thursday, June 20, at 5850 Avenida Encinas in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad. For more information, visit chick-fil-a.com.
