San Diego's historic Mission Brewery is taking over Rough Draft Brewing Company spaces throughout San Diego, including Sorrento Valley, Del Mar and on UCSD campus in La Jolla.
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913 in Mission Brewery Plaza in San Diego's Middleton area but went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, avid homebrewer Dan Selis re-established the brand and launched Mission Brewery in the 25,000 square-foot, historic Wonder Bread building in San Diego's East Village.
In late July 2021, Mission Brewery was purchase by a California holding company led by Kenneth Little, and former Anheuser Busch executive Dan Partelow was brought on as CEO. The company also recently opened its first satellite tasting room in Kensington. Over its tenure, Mission Brewery has received more than 50 national and international craft beer awards.
Mission Brewery is taking over the 6,000 square-foot Sorrento Valley-based brewing facility that housed Rough Draft Brewing Company for over a decade before it shuttered late last year. Mission Brewery will soon make the Sorrento Valley facility their new home, as the lease on the East Village space ends this fall. They will reactivate the onsite tasting room and continue to operate in East Village until a buyer takes over the historic 12,500 square-foot building.
Mission is also taking over Rough Draft's former brewery tasting room on the University of California San Diego campus in La Jolla. Mission Brewery will also open a new tasting room at the Brewer's Deck within The Sky Deck restaurant collective inside Del Mar Highlands Town Center.
Mission Brewery is expected to activate its spaces in the coming months at 8830 Rehco Road, Suite D, in Sorrento Valley and 3869 Miramar Street on the University of California San Diego campus in La Jolla. For more information, visit missionbrewery.com.
