San Diego-born Longball will open the city's first hard tea tasting room in the space that currently houses Thorn Brewing in Mission Hills.
Last year, Barrio Logan's ReBru Spirits released Longball, a hard lemon iced tea beverage that quickly became available at bars, restaurants, and retail outlets throughout San Diego County via Scout Distribution. ReBru and Thorn Brewing founder Dennis O’Connor and Longball's then-CEO Kerin Sovern helped to quickly grow the lineup of fortified apple wine-distilled beverages. Sovern has since left the company to take an executive role with local peanut butter tequila brand Maniball Tequila.
Longball includes real tea, real lemon, and natural flavors, and is available in 750ml bottles that have an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 23.5%. The brand’s ready-to-drink canned cocktails, Longball & Soda, are also available in 12-oz cans with 5% ABV, 115 calories, and five grams of sugar. The company also makes a hibiscus punch, a transfusion cocktail with ginger tea, grape and lime, and a sweet black tea cocktail with lemon.
Thorn Brewing founder Dennis O'Connor will repurpose his Mission Hills tasting room at the end of the summer and rebrand the space to become the first area brick-and-mortar location designed exclusively for Longball. Expect the new Longball tasting room to have a sports bar feel and maintain the brand's golf theme, including having an onsite golf simulator. The space will also have a bar serving Longball cocktails and distilled spirits, as well as a merchandise area.
Longball Hard Iced Tea Tasting Room is expected to open by year's end at 4026 Hawk Street, Suite A, in San Diego's Mission Hills. For more information, visit drinklongball.com.
