A Chinese fast food chain with more than 20,000 locations, Zhengxin Chicken Steak has debuted its first San Diego location.
Established in 2000, Zhengxin Chicken Steak quickly gained popularity with its flagship product the Spicy Chicken Steak. By 2019, the number of Zhengxin Chicken Steak stores around the globe surpassed 20,000. As the brand continues to expand in the United States, it has unveiled its first Southern California location in San Diego.
Following successful launches in Milpitas, CA and Chicago, Zhengxin Chicken Steak has opened a branch in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. This new outlet replaces Mochinut in the Convoy Street Plaza, which also houses Dumpling Inn and Jasmine Seafood Restaurant. Unlike the American version of chicken-fried steak, which uses battered beef cutlets, Zhengxin Chicken Steak actually uses chicken breast cutlets that are marinated then coated in panko breadcrumbs.
Zhengxin Chicken Steak offers its fried chicken cutlets with a variety a finishing seasons, including cumin, original, spicy, and sweet plum. The eatery also serves chicken wings, fried chicken sandwiches, fries, sesame balls, fish sticks, cheese sticks, chicken sticks, and ai-yu jelly, which is a jelly made from the gel from the seeds of the Awkeotsang creeping fig found in Taiwan and East Asian countries that is then topped with boba, mochi, fruit or red bean. The eatery will also serve milk tea, green tea, and soft drinks.
Zhengxin Chicken Steak is now open at 4609 Convoy Street, Suite C, in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. For more information, visit zhengxinca.com.
