Empanada Kitchen has partnered with San Diego's Pure Project craft brewery to offer freshly baked empanadas at the Balboa Park taproom.
Owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Matias Rigali and Dan Housenga, Empanada Kitchen was born in 2016 from a notion to bring a piece of Argentine culinary culture to San Diego. Now, it is a beloved staple with multiple branches around the city offering handmade, authentic Argentine-style empanadas based on family recipes. The dough for their empanadas is shipped straight from Argentina, and they offer a variety of fillings to please many palates, including vegetarian and vegan options.
"Partnering with Empanada Kitchen was a natural choice for us," said Pure Project co-founder Mat Robar. "We are no strangers to food and beer pairings, and Empanada Kitchen’s empanadas match the quality we look for in pairings for our beers. We hope this offering makes visiting our Balboa Park taproom even more enjoyable."
Matias Rigali, founder of Empanada Kitchen, echoed these sentiments. "We are thrilled about this collaboration with our San Diego neighbors at Pure Project," he said. "We share high-
quality standards for our products, and you can truly taste the difference. Pure Project’s beers are a beautiful accompaniment for our empanadas!"
Pure Project will offer classic Empanada Kitchen fan favorites like chicken, which pairs well with Pure’s core murky IPA, Diamond Dust, and sweet corn with basil, complemented by their pilsner, Rain. The menu features meat and vegetarian options with rotating empanada flavors available for purchase.
Pure Project will begin selling Empanada Kitchen’s empanadas at their Balboa Park taproom, located at 2865 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Bankers Hill community, starting on Friday, August 2. For more information, visit empanada-kitchen.com.
