Florida-Based Arcade Monsters Unveils Psychedelic Comic Video Game Venue In Downtown San Diego

July 26, 2024

A year in the making, Florida-based bar-cade venue Arcade Monsters has unveiled its first California location in San Diego's East Village.

Florida Tech alums and longtime best friends Adrian Ravelo and Andy Rodriguez founded Arcade Monster classic arcade bar in Oviedo, Florida in 2018. The company now has multiple outposts dotted around central Florida. Ravelo grew up in the arcade business, with his father once owning an arcade in New York in the 1980s.

During Comic-Con San Diego 2023, Arcade Monsters announced it would be opening an outpost of its 1980s/90s arcade concept on 7th and J Street in San Diego's East Village. Now nearly a year later, the psychedelic comic arcade, bar & restaurant has opened in Downtown San Diego just in time for this year's Comic-Con.

Designed with a "Anime Vs. Horror" arcade theme, the two-story bar and eatery features neon lights throughout and houses dozens of games, including classics like pinball and skeeball, Japanese rhythm popular arcade games, claw machines, consoles, experiential games, and more. Unlike other bar-cades, Arcade Monsters offers an unlimited play option. They also serve tavern fare, all natural slushies, beer and wine.

Arcade Monsters is now open daily at 704 J Street in San Diego's East Village. For more information. visit arcademonsters.com.
