A Michelin-starred chef will soon bring Kaluú Mexican restaurant and nightclub to the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter.
As part of a newly formed dining group made up of ownership of Tacos El Cabron and Broken Yolk Cafe, general manager Tellas Bobo is leading the charge on the launch of Kaluú, which is opening this August in the space that last housed Double Black Lounge Bar & Kitchen on Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter. Bobo is known for his work with nightclubs like Fluxx, Cake, and Oxford Social Club.
At Kaluú, expect a menu of upscale Mexican cuisine from Chef Esteban Lluis, who recently made headlines as the leader of famed Baja California Mexico wine region Valle De Guadalupe's newly Michelin-starred Damiana restaurant. As the evening unfolds, Kaluú will evolve from a dining destination into a music-fueled nightclub featuring live DJs and a cutting-edge sound system.
Dishes on Kaluú's menu will include Tamal Colado (tamales of strained dough), NY Beef Tartare, Tacos de Nada (potato and soyrizo, tomato-oregano salsa, cotija, crema), "Sinaloan Style" Free Range Chicken with Molcajete sauce, Suckling Pig, a Wagyu Burger and more. There will also be a full bar with cocktails, beer and wine.
Kaluú is anticipated to open mid-August at 534 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information, visit kaluusd.com.
