A San Diego hotel has received top honors in Travel + Leisure Magazine's Word's Best Awards for 2024.
North County San Diego's Mission Pacific Beach Resort has been named the top Resort Hotel in the Continental U.S. and best California Resort Hotel in the 2024 edition of the Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards. The three year old, 161-room oceanfront hotel will be featured in the August issue of Travel + Leisure Magazine.

Opened in 2021, Mission Pacific Beach Resort is part Hyatt's The Bicester Collection. A dining destination in its own right, Mission Pacific is home to Valle, a Michelin-starred restaurant from Baja's acclaimed chef Roberto Alcocer, paying homage to Mexico's Valle de Guadalupe wine region. Additional onsite venues include High/Low Pies and The Rooftop Bar, an all-day beach club oasis, with sunset views and regular DJ sessions. The restored Top Gun House, beloved for its appearance in the 1986 hit film Top Gun, is also situated on Mission Pacific's grounds. Lovers of the classic film can enjoy Americana desserts at The Top Gun House, offering signature hand pies filled with seasonal, locally picked fruits.
The "World’s Best Awards" are determined through a reader survey conducted by Travel + Leisure where respondents evaluate hotels, resorts, and inns based on several criteria, including room quality, facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. These responses are calculated into a numeric score out of 100. With an impressive score of 99.17, Mission Pacific Beach Resort claimed the No. 11 position on the global list of best hotels. This year's World’s Best Awards were compiled from nearly 200,000 reader responses, with over 700,000 votes cast across all categories
Mission Pacific Beach Resort is not the only San Diego establishment to earn top marks. Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Rancho Santa Fe ranked #11 among the best continental U.S. hotels, while The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa in Oceanside followed closely at #14. Additionally, The Pendry hotel in downtown San Diego was voted the best hotel in the city by the magazine's readers.
