San Diego's Catamaran Resort Hotel Forced To Close Onsite Restaurant Due To Multitude Of Health Issues

July 30, 2024

San Diego's Catamaran Resort Hotel was forced to close its onsite restaurant after an inspection uncovered multiple health violations, including major vermin and food holding temperature issues, among several others.

On Monday, July 29, Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa was forced to close its onsite restaurant, Oceana Coastal Kitchen, after a routine inspection by the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health. According to San Diego County food facility inspection records, the restaurant was ordered closed due to Holding Temperatures - Major (temperature controls of potentially hazardous food); Food Contact Surfaces - Major (sanitization of food contact surfaces); Vermin - Major (presence of active infestation); Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance (preventive measures that include practices and procedures that effectively control the introduction of pathogens, chemicals and physical objects into food); Premises, Vermin-proofing, Personal/Cleaning Items - Out of Compliance (preventive measures that include practices and procedures that effectively control the introduction of pathogens, chemicals and physical objects into food); Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance (preventive measures that include practices and procedures that effectively control the introduction of pathogens, chemicals and physical objects into food); and Impoundment - Out of Compliance (impounding of food that has no verifiable approved source or impounding of equipment that was not approved for use).
There is no word on how long Catamaran Hotel's onsite restaurant will be forced to remain closed due to the recent inspection. We reached out to representatives of the property for comment and more information but did not receive a response by the time of publishing.
