The Prestige Magic Lounge & Showroom Ends Run In San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter

July 25, 2024

Following two years in business, The Prestige Magic Lounge & Showroom has closed to the public in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter.

Terry Commons started his magic show in 1990 as a haunted mansion magic performance meant to take place solely during the Halloween season, but due to the success of the project, he launched the first Mystique Dining location in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1997. Commons, who is trained as a magician, eventually launched outposts in Boise, Salt Lake City, and Folsom, CA.

In May 2021 Commons opened a branch of Mystique Dining in the former Masala Street restaurant space at 915 Pearl Street in the heart of La Jolla Village. In 2022, he opened a more casual sister concept brand dubbed The Prestige Magic Lounge & Showroom in the space that last housed Illusions Theatre and Bar in the Gaslamp Quarter. Prestige offered a Victorian-style decor with an onsite bar and a three-course dinner experience served via maid and butler with a simultaneous magic sho by world-class magicians.

The Prestige Magic Lounge & Showroom has closed in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. The space will continue to be available for private events and ownership is hoping to sell the business in the coming months. Sister concept Mystique Dining remains in operation at 915 Pearl Street in La Jolla.

The Prestige Magic Lounge and Showroom is located 827 4th Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information, visit mystiquedining.com/sandiego-home.
