WestBrew Closing Restaurants In Downtown San Diego & Del Mar

July 2, 2024

After only a few years in operation, WestBrew is shutting down its restaurants in Del Mar and Downtown San Diego.

WestBrew founder Joshua Scheer is a longtime home brewer and the product of a brewer’s bloodline, with both of his great grandfathers being avid brewers. In late 2020, Scheer unveiled WestBrew brewery as a 2,000 square-foot production facility and tasting room in San Diego's North County city of Vista. He quickly following by opening a 2,400-square-foot indoor/outdoor restaurant and tasting room on the main thoroughfare of Del Mar, then another brewery restaurant at 701 Island Avenue in downtown San Diego's East Village.

WestBrew will close its Del Mar location after end of service on Sunday, July 7, with the downtown branch staying in business until July 19 at the earliest. The company plans to continue top distribute its lineup of craft beers, which includes La Costa IPA, WestBrew Blonde, WestBrew Pils, as well as a variety of flavored hard seltzers.
