Café Madeleine Bringing New Deli Concept To San Diego's South Park

August 29, 2024

In addition to a third location opening soon in San Diego's Barrio Logan, Latin-inspired French bistro Café Madeleine is bringing a new deli concept to South Park.

Café Madeleine was founded in San Diego's South Park in 2010 by owner Christine Perez, who originally teamed up with French master chef & Hotel Del Coronado Executive Sous Chef Patrick Ponsaty to consult on creating the menu of crepes and other French specialities. In 2016, a second area outpost opened in North Park, which had a larger kitchen, allowing the eatery to add more items to the menu.

Dubbed Madeleine, a new branch of the cafe brand will open in the coming months on the base floor of the Los Patio mixed-use apartment complex in Barrio Logan. Like other branches, expect coffee concoctions made with Illy Coffee and an all-day food menu featuring breakfast, sandwiches, quiches, pastries, croissants, crepes, and other French specialties.

In addition to the Barrio Logan cafe, the Café Madeleine team has taken over the former home of Oliver's Hair Design on Beech Street in San Diego's South Park. Next year, following a complete remodel of the former hair salon, they plan on opening a new concept in the space, which is expected to have an onsite deli serving specialty sandwiches and more food items.

Madeleine is expected to open this fall at 1776 National Avenue in San Diego's Barrio Logan community, with the deli planned for a mid-2025 unveiling at 2971 Beech Street in South Park. For more information, visit cafemadeleinesd.com.
