Concealed Recording Device Found In Bathroom Of San Diego County Restaurant

August 4, 2024

A San Diego college student and her friend found a concealed recording device in the bathroom at a San Diego County restaurant that reportedly contained over a hundred videos of unsuspecting customers.

Oceanside police confirmed that on Wednesday, July 18, at approximately 5:57pm, officers responded to a radio call of a suspect recording people in the restroom of Dominic's Italian Restaurant, located at 268 Harbor Drive South in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. Upon their arrival, officers contacted three adult victims and one juvenile victim, two of which located a cell phone concealed inside a storage container of the restaurant's restroom.

A San Diego college student claimed to have discovered the phone when it fell out of a cupboard in the restroom. Upon further examination, she alleged there were over 100 videos of people using the restroom on that phone. In the videos, men, women, and juveniles were recorded in different stages of undress. The victim contacted the manager of the location and it was discovered the cell phone belonged to a juvenile employee of the business, who was detained but later released to family.

Detectives from the Oceanside Police Family Protection division have taken the lead on this investigation and are currently attempting to identify other victims. The names of the parties involved in this investigation will not be released.
