El Viejón Seafood Bringing Asian-Inspired Mexican Mariscos To San Diego's Mira Mesa Community

August 31, 2024

From the owners of Lupes Mexican Eatery and Holy Paleta, El Viejón is bringing the third area location of its Mexican/Asian-fusion seafood restaurant to San Diego's Mira Mesa community.

Husband-and-wife partners Luis & Angelica Gonzalez, who also own several Lupe's Mexican Eatery locations and two Holy Paleta outposts, opened the first El Viejon Seafood restaurant in October 2021 in the space that previously housed the short-lived Chung Chun Rice Dog in Kearny Mesa. The restaurant has become a popular destination for its menu of Mexican seafood dishes with an Asian twist, as well as "exotic" seafood towers and seafood tacos, all created by Chef Raul Olmos. Earlier this year, the company's second location unveiled in the space that last housed an El Tianguis in the Millenia Town Center plaza in the Otay Mesa area of Chula Vista.
The third branch of El Viejón is opening in the space that last housed Manila Sunset Grille within Scripps Mesa Retail Center in Mira Mesa. Simone Oliver of KW Commercial Fine Properties handled the lease. In addition to an expansive selection of Baja-style mariscos dishes with Asian influence, the eatery will also sell a variety of beer, Micheladas, margaritas, bottled Mexican sodas, and craft agua frescas.

El Viejón is expected to open by year's end at 9837 Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego's Mira Mesa. For more information, visit elviejonseafood.com and check out the menu below.
