Landini's Pizza Owner Ready To Unveil Slowly Restaurant & Lounge In San Diego's Pacific Beach

The owner of Landini's Pizza is ready to unveil a new concept named Slowly Restaurant & Lounge in the space previously occupied by Iron Pig Alehouse in San Diego's Pacific Beach.

Florence-native Leo Landini started his San Diego culinary career in 2005 as the general manager of what was then the oldest Italian restaurant in the Gaslamp, the now-defunct Trattoria La Strada. In 2008, Landini took over the former Pizzeria Luigi in Little Italy and opened his namesake restaurant.
In 2016, Landini repurposed the second tier space above his pizzeria and launched full-service restaurant Ristorante Illando, and in 2018, Landini launched a small-scale version of his pizzeria inside the Liberty Public Market in Point Loma's Liberty Station. In October 2020, Landini unveiled his newest and largest restaurant to date, Scuderia Italia in Pacific Beach.
Earlier this year, Landini took over the building that last housed Salsa & Smoke/Iron Pig Alehouse, which is sited directly across the street from his Scuderie Italia, to open a new eatery dubbed Slowly. Soft opening this week, Slowly will offer dishes from "the sea to the forest of California" from Executive Chef Yadira Cuevas, who most recently served as the Executive Chef and General Manager of Barbarella restaurant in La Jolla Shores.
Slowly's menu focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with regional Baja influences. Expect dishes like Slow Dancin' coconut crusted shrimp served with mango pico & sweet coconut chili sauce; Carrot Salad with shaved heirloom carrots, asparagus, pickled beets, orange and Fresno chili with poppy seed-dill dressing; Sea Bass & Clams with tri-color quinoa, veggies, creamy saffron sauce and house chili oil; Sweet & Slow Pork Chop with pork marinated with guajillo pepper sauce, served with roasted vegetables, sweet potato puree and sweet citrus harissa sauce; and Slowly Mole-y Mushrooms featuring roasted maitake mushrooms, crispy potatoes, mole sauce, and verdolaga greens. The restaurant will also offer a full bar, late night offerings and weekend brunch.
