Now open in San Diego's Pacific Beach is Starvin Marvin's, a neighborhood-driven sandwich shop serving a menu of creative subs, natural stone flatbreads and hearty salads.
A new local favorite has emerged in Pacific Beach, bringing good vibes and great food to the community. Starvin Marvin's is the brainchild of Colby Jacobson, a longtime San Diego resident originally from Northern California. After 12 years in the Crown Point area and working as an X-ray technician at UCSD Hillcrest, Jacobson’s dream of opening his own sandwich shop has finally come to life.
Starvin Marvin's is more than just a place to grab a meal - it’s a community hub designed for locals to relax and enjoy quality food in a laid-back environment. Jacobson envisions his shop as a spot where families can bring their kids and dogs, play arcade games, listen to records, and watch sports. His goal is to provide a welcoming atmosphere where people can unwind and share some laughs over fantastic neighborhood eats. Starvin Marvin's is also operated in partnership with Jacobson's friends Kash and Jess, owners of adjacent The Oasis Under the Sun wine bar, so patrons will be able to enjoy items from both menus.
The menu at Starvin Marvin's reflects Jacobson’s passion for spreading joy through food. Sandwiches and flatbreads are crafted with care, representing "Marv," a character Jacobson created to symbolize satisfaction and happiness. Open daily from 11am to 8:30pm, Starvin Marvin's is dedicated to serving delicious, wholesome meals that leave customers with a smile.
Highlights from Starvin Marvin's menu include Marv's Tubular Tri Tip sandwich featuring 18 hour slow-roasted trip tip with melted pepper Jack cheese, horseradish, arugula, onion and balsamic vinaigrette on a toasted French Roll; Caesar Cardini wrap with chicken Caesar salad in a tomato basil wrap with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and a side of house made croutons; The Goat of Greens salad with arugula, spinach, goat cheese, candied pecans, sliced pear and balsamic vinaigrette; and the We're Jammin! flatbread topped with goat cheese, fig jam, prosciutto and sliced pears.
In addition to indulging in Starvin Marvin's food directly at the shop, patrons can also enjoy them at the neighboring West End Pub. There is a convenient QR code system for ordering with food delivered right to customers while enjoying drinks at the pub. Jen, the owner of West End, is thrilled about this collaboration, as it fills the gap of not having food available at the iconic North PB dive bar. Additionally, Starvin Marvin's offesr catering services tailored to any style or event.
