The Halal Guys Finally Secures Lease For First San Diego Location

September 5, 2024

Seven years since The Halal Guys first announced it would be entering San Diego, the Middle Eastern chain has finally signed its first area lease.

In April 2017, we announced The Halal Guys planned to open several San Diego locations as part of a huge expansion spearheaded by franchise professionals Fransmart franchise development company. Then in 2023, it was confirmed that new franchisee Farhan Qadri had signed a five-unit franchise agreement and was finally searching for locations around San Diego. Well now The Halal Guys is set to move into the reportedly "cursed" Fifth Avenue space that last housed Breakfast Bitch, which closed down last fall following a federal conviction and imposition of a multi-year prison sentence against its owner.

The Halal Guys is known for its simple menu of various Middle Eastern dishes, including shawarma wraps, Sriracha honey falafel, chicken-and-rice platters and the famous white garlic and red sauces. The Halal Guys has already been well received in numerous markets including Dallas, Philadelphia, Arizona, Las Vegas, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Founded by Egyptian immigrants Mohammed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsakaas, and Abdelbaset Elsayed, The Halal Guys is a testament to the American Dream - growing from humble beginnings as a food cart on the streets of midtown Manhattan to a global icon known as the largest American Halal street food concept in the world. The Halal Guys now has over 100 restaurants worldwide with hundreds more in development.

The Halal Guys is expected to open at some point in 2025 at 3825 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Hillcrest community. For more information, visit thehalalguys.com.
