The Lost Abbey Brewery has taken over the former Eppig Brewing space in San Diego's North County.
The Lost Abbey has found a new home in Vista, taking over the former Eppig Brewing space on Keystone Way. After several years of navigating changes, including downsizing and shifting production needs, the brewery will move to a more fitting location that aligns with its goals. The transition will provide The Lost Abbey with a facility better suited to its production scale and vision.
Founded in 2006, The Lost Abbey gained prominence for its Belgian-inspired ales and sour beers, becoming a staple in San Diego's craft beer scene. Over the years, the brewery has expanded, opened multiple tasting rooms, and garnered awards for its unique beer offerings. However, in 2022, the company recognized that its San Marcos headquarters was too large for its needs, leading to a series of changes, including downsizing and a partnership with Mother Earth Brew Co.
The move to the 16,000-square-foot former Eppig Brewing space marks a significant step for The Lost Abbey. The brewery will have access to a 30-barrel brewing system and the opportunity to expand its production of small-batch beers. Though moving out of the Mother Earth facility was a challenge, The Lost Abbey's new location will offer greater flexibility and potential for future collaborations while maintaining its independence.
The Lost Abbey's move is expected to take place in November 2024, with production starting shortly after. Fans can expect to see a broader range of beers as the brewery settles into its new home.
