A new bakery, Tus Chefs Favoritas, is coming soon to San Diego's South County, offering a fresh take on conchas and other beloved Mexican pastries.
Tus Chefs Favoritas will soon open within The Shops at San Miguel Ranch in Chula Vista. The Mexican bakery is the passion project of best friends Natalie Rodriguez and Lesly Mendoza. The duo's journey started during the pandemic when they experimented with baking conchas for fun. After perfecting their recipe, they fell in love with the process and began selling their gourmet conchas to the community. Their fan base quickly grew, fueled by their commitment to quality and support from their loyal customers.
"We met in high school and ever since we met we became best friends and we knew we wanted to be business partners we didn’t know what business to start we just knew we would do it together!," explained Natalie Rodriguez." We kind of just started baking conchas for fun, and found the perfect recipe after six months of practice. We fell in love with the process so we decided we wanted to sell them at our own bakery."
Now, Natalie and Lesly are ready to expand their offerings with the launch of a full-scale bakery in the former Halo Halo Cafe & Ice Cream Parlor space in Eastlake. While conchas are the cornerstone of their bakery, they plan to introduce new items to the menu once their doors open, with seasonal treats like Pan de Muerto and Rosca de Reyes already a hit during special occasions. At Tus Chefs Favoritas, expect conchas flavors like strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, Fruity Pebbles, Mazapan, Oreo, Napolitano, Coco, M&Ms, and coffee.
