VS Wings, a fast-casual chicken restaurant, has officially opened its doors in the former Cheesy Express location near Belmont Park in San Diego's Mission Beach.
Owned by Jason DiZang, the Mission Beach branch is the second VS Wings location, following the success of the original restaurant in Alpine, which opened just last year. The name "VS Wings" pays homage to DiZang's mother, using her initials, VS.
VS Wings features made-to-order wings in a dozen flavors, including options like Lemongrass, Korean BBQ, Louisiana Rub, Mango Habanero, Cajun Rub, Garlic Parmesan and more. In addition to wings, the menu includes hot chicken sandwiches, tenders, Buffalo fries, shakes, and side dishes. The restaurant offers a quick-service dining experience with a casual seating area, making it ideal for both on-the-go meals and sit-down dining. DiZang describes the concept as a blend between Raising Cane's and Wingstop.
