Chick Fil-A Opening New Location In San Diego's Liberty Station

The 21st area location of fast food chain Chick-Fil-A is opening within Liberty Station in San Diego's Point Loma community.

This newest outpost will open in a space near Trader Joe's market, although unlike many Chick-fil-A locations, it will not feature a drive-thru window. Set to open in the first quarter of 2025, this branch will be the second Point Loma-area location, joining a Chick-fil-A on Sports Arena Boulevard.

This new Chick-fil-A location at Liberty Station might adopt elements similar to Chick-fil-A’s experimental model in New York City, where the fast-food giant recently launched its first mobile-order-only restaurant. Designed for mobile pickups only, this new-age concept has no dining room, drive-thru, or in-person cashier service, with all orders placed through the app for streamlined efficiency. Liberty Station’s Chick-fil-A will not feature a drive-thru, but it may embrace similar technology-centered operations to cater to its busy, on-the-go customer base.

Chick-fil-A is testing other concepts as well, such as a drive-thru-only model in Atlanta, which includes lanes exclusively for mobile pickups. These trials represent Chick-fil-A’s effort to adapt to evolving customer needs by providing efficient, contactless ordering options, potentially setting a new standard for future locations.

Chick-fil-A, originally founded in 1961 by S. Truett Cathy in Hapeville, Georgia, now has more than 3,000 locations across the United States and Canada. Known for pioneering the fried chicken sandwich as a main menu item, the brand has evolved into a major player in fast food, emphasizing its southern-inspired menu, efficiency, and customer service. Chick-fil-A’s religious roots have also sparked both admiration and controversy over the years due to its conservative social stance, though the company has recently sought to soften its image on some social issues.

Liberty Station, a historic former naval training center redeveloped into a commercial and cultural district, has become a thriving community destination in San Diego. Home to a diverse array of restaurants, markets, arts organizations, and event spaces, Liberty Station offers a unique setting for Chick-fil-A’s latest San Diego venture. This expansion highlights the fast-food chain's strategic growth across popular local and community-oriented centers.

Chick-fil-A is expected to open in first quarter 2025 at 2445 Truxton Road in San Diegos Liberty Station. For more information, visit chick-fil-a.com .
