Huerta Taco Stand Brings Farm-Fresh Mexican Street Food To San Diego's North County

Huerta Taco Stand has recently opened its doors in San Diego's North County, offering a fresh, farm-to-table approach to Mexican street food.

Adding to the several dining concepts already sited on Fox Point Farms, the new 21.5 acre "agrihood" located a few miles inland from Leucadia, Huerta Taco Stand is a new farm-driven taco eatery helmed by Chef Leticia "Lety McKenzie" Gonzalez. Named after the Spanish word for "vegetable garden", Huerta is inspired by the produce grown on Fox Point's 5.5 acre regenerative farm.

The taqueria's menu currently features four tacos, all served on hand-pressed corn tortillas infused with sunflower petals. Standout dishes include the kohlrabi adobada taco with salsa negra, a Baja beer-battered fish taco using local catch and Fox Point Brewing beer batter, pork carnitas with salsa verde and pickled red onions, and smoked brisket barbacoa with quelites mix. The menu is expected to change with the seasons and alter based on what's available from the farm.
Fox Point Farms, located just west of the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course, is the first agrihood of its kind in San Diego, blending residential living with sustainable farming. Along with Huerta Tacos, the farm is home to other dining concepts such as Harvest, a daytime café and marketplace offering fresh farm produce, and Haven Farm + Table, a 120-seat restaurant focused on seasonal, farm-inspired cuisine.

Additionally, Fox Point Farms Brewing Co. is a 10-barrel brewhouse that crafts organic beers using hops and other ingredients cultivated on the farm itself. Led by brewmaster Brian Carl, formerly of Benchmark Brewing Company, the brewery produces unique, farm-inspired brews, contributing to the overall sustainable ethos of the community. Carl also developed Fox Point Roasters, an on-site coffee outlet utilizing locally grown beans, further enhancing the farm-to-table experience.

Within Fox Point Farms residential community, there is also an edible landscape walking trail with citrus and nut trees, an outdoor farm animal area, community gardens, picturesque seating areas, and an approximately 6,000-square-foot recreation center with a fitness center, pool, barbecue grills, fire pits, a bocce court, golf simulator and movie room, and more. There is also an outdoor community library, dog park, event space, and other social areas.

Huerta Tacos operates from Tuesday through Sunday at 1200 Fox Point Farms Lane in San Diego's North County city of Encinitas. For more information, visit foxpointfarms.com.
