In-N-Out Burger's New Mobile Cookout Trailer Spotted In Doentown San Diego For First Time

In-N-Out Burger's newest cookout trailer made its debut in Downtown San Diego this week, offering a taste of the iconic California-based fast food from a mobile setup.

The trailer was spotted outside the Pendry Hotel on Thursday afternoon. It appears that the mobile In-N-Out was catering to a private event, possibly for a hotel function or maybe for Kidney Week 2024, a conference attracting over 12,000 nephrology professionals at the San Diego Convention Center. Though the company has been offering mobile options for decades, this is the first of In-N-Out's recently released trucks to roll out on the streets of San Diego.

While these cookout trucks are perfect for any event - whether it's a birthday party, wedding, corporate event, or simply a neighborhood surprise - the idea of a fully mobile In-N-Out is almost too good to be true. Unlike standard food trucks, In-N-Out’s Cookout Trucks are massive rigs that look like converted 18-wheelers, designed to deliver the signature burger experience on wheels. First introduced in 1974, these trucks have catered everything from bar mitzvahs to graduation parties across California, and recently began operating in San Diego County, though their availability remains somewhat limited.

The trucks require 85 feet of parking space, 14 feet of overhead clearance, and 11 feet of width. They are fully staffed and can operate around the clock. The cost of booking a truck starts at over $3,250 plus tax, with pricing based on the amount of food served. Curiously, shakes aren't yet available on any truck. Last year, Lynsi Snyder, granddaughter of In-N-Out co-founder Esther Snyder, announced the launch of the new Cookout Trailers to honor her grandmother’s legacy of philanthropy.

"In honor of my Grandma and her love for helping children, [the truck] supports the In-N-Out Burger Foundation's efforts to assist children who have been victims of abuse," Lynsi shared.
In-N-Out has a total of 13 trucks and now offers three types of mobile cookout option across California - the Standard Cookout Truck with burgers and chips; the Fry Cookout Truck, which as the name suggests, offers fries; and the Esther Snyder Truck, which serves mini versions of In-N-Out favorites for children’s events. In addition to San Diego, the trucks serve several regions across California, including Los Angeles County, Orange County, and the Bay Area, as well as select areas in Colorado, Texas, and Nevada.

In-N-Out Burger was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. Over the years, the brand became a beloved institution in California, famous for its fresh, made-to-order burgers and family-run business model. Though In-N-Out didn't open its first San Diego location until 1990 in Kearny Mesa, the region quickly embraced the brand. Today, In-N-Out boasts numerous locations across San Diego County, cementing its status as a local favorite.

Whether it's for corporate events, weddings, or community functions, In-N-Out’s Cookout Trucks provide the opportunity for fans to enjoy fresh burgers without leaving the party. For more information, or to book a Cookout Truck, visit in-n-out.com/cookout or call 888.700.7774.
