Pizza Kaiju & Yoshuku Diner Bringing Japanese Fusion To San Diego's Barrio Logan

After spending the past few years operating inside a local food hall, Pizza Kaiju is set to expand with the opening of its first full-service restaurant in San Diego’s Barrio Logan.

Pizza Kaiju was among the founding vendors at Market on 8th in National City when the food hall debuted in 2021. However, after departing Market on 8th a few months ago as the hall underwent a significant revamp, Pizza Kaiju has now taken over the 4,500-square-foot space that was previously home to Attitude Brewing within Mercado del Barrio in San Diego's historic Barrio Logan.

Pizza Kaiju offers both New York-style and Detroit square slices and whole pies, blending traditional pizza toppings with inventive, globally inspired flavors. Menu highlights include the ube longanisa pizza featuring pickled serrano peppers, onion, garlic, mozzarella, and a Filipino-style sawsawan dipping sauce; the elote pizza with citrus cream sauce, sweet corn, onions, bell peppers, pickled serrano peppers, guajillo sauce, chili powder, and cotija cheese; the sisig pizza, topped with Filipino-style pork belly and calamansi-infused cream sauce; and the birria pizza, served with braised beef, mozzarella, onions, cilantro, lime, and consommé on the side.

Additionally, Pizza Kaiju's new location will house Yoshuku Diner, which will a style of Western-influenced Japanese cuisine. Diners can expect dishes like tonkatsu, omurice, Japanese curry, and Japanese-style pasta. There will also be multiple taps for beer and other hard beverages, as well as a selection of wine and sake.
